How To Measure And Install

THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS HOW TO CUT AROUND AND FLASH BOOTS. HOW TO INSTALL PIPE FLASHINGS OR PIPE BOOT. ALSO SHOWS HOW TO INSTALL A VALLEY ON A METAL ROOF. You need to check local building codes before doing your roof this way. Some states or counties require you to use 1 x 4′s to strip the roof and some type of underlayment. Felt or synthetic. You may also choose to use some type of closures on the ridge and at the bottom of your roof. You may also want to tear your roof off. But the video shows you the basics on what you need to know about how to do a metal roof. I hope this video has been helpful to at least a few of you.

This was actually sent to the wrong person. Please forgive me. It was directed at another user hence the comment doesn’t match up to your question. I’m very sorry. Antd I will remove this after you see my public apology

  2. Adrian says:

     ok

  3. Samuel says:

I believe it. I guess these Ag panels are air tight now. Thanks for your opinion

  4. Corey says:

From greedy internet know it alls. Lol

  5. Allan says:

It actually helps insulate your house. you may want to put down a moisture barrier but I wouldn’t.

  6. Joe says:

Excuse me expert, how long before the roof starts to rust? Why cant videos be found of this rusting you speak of? I bet i could go back to the roof and remove panels and they would still be bone white. Metal and asphalt contract and expand at the same rate.

  7. Aaron says:

Thanks for your opinion sir. I really am sure you know more than me so I will mention this in the next video. Oh wait I mentioned it in this video. Read the full description.

  8. Clayton says:

you should always take the old shingles off first-this is a cheap,half-ass way to install metal panel roofing.

  9. AlfredGordon says:

You hve to screw them in the valleys as the washer on the screws flatten out to the diameter of the washer on the screw and creates a water tight seal. If you screw them in the “peaks” you can’s flatten out the washer creating that seal. It’ll tend to leak if you install them in the “peaks.”

  10. Robert says:

I’ve read conflicting accounts, that when you screw the roof segments down, the screws should be placed on the ‘peak’ point and not the ‘valley’ point of the panel. If you put it in the ‘valley’ , you’re creating a hole where water is running thru anyway, and over time this might be a problem I’ve heard (which makes sense). It looks like you are screwing the valleys in some points here. Can you comment on this please and whether it makes a difference?

Latinos work so hard to live! I really admire them!

  12. Ross says:

    that’s a really good price! I mean it! :)

I gotta say that your business, unlike MOST businesses, has deserved every second of footage you’ve posted if you’re distributing at costs like that.

    Glad to have you alive.

  13. John says:

    Clever idea! That’s awesome!

  14. Eugene says:

Is it common practice to put the metal over the composition shingles? I’d LOVE to do this and NOT have to take the existing comp off.

  15. charles-2 says:

Ok i wanna know where all the cost is coming from i went to Menards and me and the guy added up all the cost for my roof Round up to $3,000. but yet the people i have come out to give me bids on installing a metal roof are $16,000. and up so so crazy lol

  16. Vincent says:

To start you dont lay metal directly over shingles. The vents do not vent thru the ribs there is no draw to allow the metal to do so. watch out for rip off roofers because they will lie to you everytime. the only thing this video shows is how not to lay metal on a roof.

  17. Ivan says:

deep gold or darker color brown earthtones w/ some added dormers look better for a house. I mean let’s try not make our homes look like little red roof barn’s

  18. Dwayne says:

What are the exact tin snips they are using?

  19. Glen says:

Thanks for the vid, the audio is the not very clear but the demo is very clear.

  20. Timothy says:

if you want them to install or strip out the roof with 1×4′s first, then attached the metal to the 1×4′s they will….armour metals and one of their subcontractors just did my roof, finished today, and it looks great! Shimmed the 1×4′s to get out any low spots before installing the metal too. I did my research before I selected a company and got several bids before I decided on who to use. Couldnt beat the price and the warranty. Looking forward to several years enjoying my new roof! Thanks!

  21. Isaac says:

I put metal roofing over shingles on my house over 5 years ago. I put it on an outbuilding 18 years ago over bare plywood. I could have used this video. On the other hand both roofs look as good as the day that they were installed. There is no evidence anywhere of any leakage, rust, damage, nothing. The outbuilding I can look at the inside of the plywood and there is not a hint of leakage or moisture.

  22. Gabriel says:

Why not hang the facia trim after the panels? I think metal roofs look better when the ridges on the panels are covered.

  23. Lonnie says:

These videos were great. Exactly what I needed to see, clean lines and a solid look really make the old house pop. I’ve asked around about the tear off . Use a heavy gauge steel and a layer or two of shingles shouldn’t cause a problem. The biggest worry is sinking the screws too tight causing the metal to bend or pucker; use the proper amount and a long enough screw and you will have the same fastening factor and with no shingles.

  24. Darrell says:

I’m not a roofer but I install metal roofs. This is the first time I watched this and its cool. Some metal manufactures wont gaurantee thier product on top of shingles or any other aggragate because of erosion. I don’t see the problem with it but thats what they say. I believe the gaurantee comes down to you after that. This video is very helpful by the way.

  25. Christian says:

Yeah, I know I’m sorry about that. I may post some more videos in the future.

  26. Daniel says:

Every foot there is a vertical seam. How does that cut down the number of seams?
